Job Summary
We're a leading independent investment management firm seeking a globally minded Data Engineer to develop and innovate with our GPMR Technology team.
In this role, you would be developing, constructing, testing and maintaining architectures such as databases and large-scale data repository/processing systems.

Key Responsibilities / Duties

• Make informed decisions quickly and taking ownership of services and applications at scale.
• Develop robust software solutions by studying information needs conferring with source providers and end users studying systems flow, data usage investigating problem areas.
• Work directly with the global business partners and stakeholders to understand data.
• Work within a team of software developers and business analysts focused to deliver technical solutions to business partners.
• Complete all tasks related to technical analysis, building and unit testing, quality assurance, system test and implementation in accordance with the Agile working model.
• Conform to documentation, coding and quality standards as defined.
• Understand client business and make recommendations and technology suggestions to solve problems and improve efficiency.
• Understand architecture of applications in order to effectively troubleshoot problems and develop more efficient production processes.
• Be prepared to carry out business analysis tasks to ensure that the development/change meets user requirements and expectations.
• Passionate about great technologies, especially open source willing with quickly upskill and adopt them.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers in the team.
• Prepare all necessary documentation and processes to enable ongoing support of the systems.
• Handle escalations from the support teams.
• Should carry the on-call phone on a rotation basis.

WORK EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE:

• 8-12 years of Technology experience with working with large databases and repositories.
• Very strong SQL/Database/Data warehousing fundamentals.
• Good hands on experience on Python.
• At least 2 years of working with AWS (S3, lambda, Athena, Glue, etc.).
• Snowflake Cloud Datawarehouse knowledge and experience, working with Docker containers is a big plus.

SKILLS / OTHER PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES REQUIRED:

• Comfortable working with ambiguity (e.g. imperfect data, loosely defined concepts, ideas, or goals) and translating these into more tangible outputs
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Self-motivated. Capable of working with little or no supervision
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Enjoy challenging and thought provoking work and have a strong desire to learn and progress
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and requests
• Must demonstrate a positive, team-focused attitude
• Ability to react positively under pressure to meet tight deadlines
• Good inter-personal skills combined with willingness to listen
• Structured, disciplined approach to work, with attention to detail
• Flexible - able to meet changing requirements and priorities
• Maintenance of up-to-date knowledge in the appropriate technical areas
• Able to work in a global, multicultural environment

FORMAL EDUCATION: (minimum requirement to perform job duties)

• Bachelors / Masters in Computer Science or other similar advanced degrees from a top tier educational institution preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Normal office environment with a little exposure to noise, dust and temperatures
• The ability to lift, carry or otherwise move objects of up to 10 pounds is also necessary
• Work hours will be from 11:30AM to 8:30 PM IST and may include evenings and/or weekends
• Should carry the on-call phone on a rotation basis
