Role Summary

The Network Engineer will report directly to the regional People Manager, working under the technical direction of the applicable Service Leaders. The candidate for this job and his/her team members are responsible for the smooth operation and implementation of network infrastructure and related systems. The position requires the ability to plan, design, and implement WAN/LAN infrastructure to meet business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Firewall/Security

• The primary responsibility of this service is to define and implement security policies on both Fortigate and Checkpoint firewalls globally as per Magna Global IT Security Standards and fine-tune the policies as needed. Other responsibilities include managing both Checkpoint and Fortigate firewalls from a central management platform and collect logs using central, dedicated log servers for analysis.

Cloud Connectivity

• The primary responsibility of this service is to support connectivity to public cloud providers and to introduce software defined technologies into Magna's WAN.

Application Services

• The primary responsibility of this service is to support, in troubleshooting poor application performance and offers ways to identify and optimize them with following technologies:
  • Riverbed, F5, Monitoring, Reverse Proxy.

Remote Access

• The primary responsibility of this service is to provide Identity Management and Secure Access conduits to Magna resources and endpoints globally. This is accomplished via Validated Authentications, Access Policies and Encrypted Communications which are available to both Internal Customers and External Partners. Technologies used include:
  • RSA, Pulse Secure, Secomea.
• Working with customers and 3rd party vendors on implementations / troubleshooting.
• Internal pre-sales/post-sales technical consulting and support.
• Collaboration with regional and global network/security teams.

Knowledge and Education

• Technical Diploma in telecommunications / computer networking or equivalent.

Work Experience

• 5 to less than 7 years of work related experience.

Key Qualifications/Requirements

• Familiarity with Riverbed Steelhead network accelerators.
• Experience with FortiGate and Check Point firewall/VPN solutions.
• Practical experience working in a team environment.
• Practical and demonstrable knowledge in networking and firewalls.
• Knowledge of switching / routing principals and technologies.
• Understanding of VPN and related technologies.
• Understanding of IT security concepts and industry best practices.
• Knowledge of RSA Authentication Manager, RADIUS and TACACS.
• Understanding of datacenter and related technologies.
• Basic understanding of IT business operations/processes.
• Excellent English communication skills (written and oral).
• Excellent communication, analytical, problem solving & interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated for continuous learning and improvement.
• Excellent customer service and relationship management skills.
• Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Work Environment

• Normal amount of sitting or standing, average mobility to move around an office environment, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.
• Regular overnight travel may be required from 10-25%.
