Designation - Network Engineer III

Location/Division Specific Information
This position will be part of the Global Network team within the Secure Technology & Operations group.

How will you make an impact?
This role will focus on Network Engineering and developing automation workflows, as well as engineering reliability, performance, monitoring, configuring and maintaining existing network components, implement network upgrades, deployment, new site builds, change requests & overall design and implementation of sites, DCs and Co-locations.
What will you do?

• Working directly with our customers to understand their business requirements to ensure networking projects are properly designed and implemented.
• Find opportunities to improve the enterprise network by implementing the network standards that have been established by the Global Networking Services team.
• Independently research and provide both business and technical solutions based on and related to customer needs and specifications and deploy them into our production infrastructure.
• Monitor, test, analyze and evaluate the existing network environment and optimize it based on resiliency, technological advancements and cost.
• Provide lead support as an escalation for lower support groups; Provide guidance and direction to lower level engineers and engage external vendor support as required.
• Ensure the highest possible level of network uptime and availability by proactively monitoring performance, troubleshooting problems and outages, and scheduling upgrades/enhancements.
• Collaborating with the network architects on large scale, business imperative projects and initiatives to optimize the enterprise network.
• Managing and monitoring the Service Now work queue to address customer requests within the established service level agreements.
• Ensuring that all network environments are well documented.
• Participating in the on-call rotation with other members of the team to ensure support coverage for the global enterprise network.
• Reporting network operational status on a regular basis to ensure that management is aware of current project status.
• Be creative and take part in PoC of new products
• Mentoring junior members of the team in order to build a stronger organization

How will you get here
Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Security or other technical field is desired, though 7 years of direct and applicable professional experience in configuring, deploying, managing and troubleshooting routers and switches in an enterprise environment will be considered for a substitution.

Experience

• Minimum seven years of experience with configuring, deploying, managing, and troubleshooting routers and switches in an enterprise environment.
• Comprehensive, hands on experience with Cisco LAN, WAN, and WLAN technologies.
• Hands on experience with, Arista, Fortinet & F5 products and services.
• Excellent knowledge of Networking and Wireless standards.
• Excellent knowledge of IT general practices and methods with specialized knowledge in multiple technical disciplines such as, cloud, telecommunications, network & automation.
• Hands on experience of SD-WAN deployment, management & troubleshooting.
• Experience with scripting languages (Ansible/Python)
• Working knowledge of cloud computing specifically relating to networks, including AWS, Azure and GCS.

Tool & Technology Skills

• Telco: WAN connectivity, LAN connectivity, Fixed Wireless, Colocation services, MMH, SMH, POPs, POTS, 4G LTE, Dark fiber, T1, MLPP, DS3, OC, FE.
• OSS/BSS: Service Now, Jira, TEM systems.
• Network: SD-WAN, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, VPN, Firewalls, IPSec, Router, Switch, CPE, CO, Load Balancer.
• Product: Cisco, Fortinet, Palo Alto, F5, Silver Peak/Velo Cloud, Arista.
• Automation: Ansible, Terraform, or Python.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Current certification such as CCNA, CCDA, CCNP or CCDP
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good customer service skills, and a proven ability to work with various teams.
• Must have strong analytical skills related to basic financial and contract analysis.
• Be a self-motivated, highly ethical individual with a demonstrated ability to work as independently as well as with a team.
• A strong desire to establishing credibility with fellow engineers through teamwork and collaboration.
• The ability to work independently and prioritize multiple objectives and initiatives.
• Develop, plan, direct and control strategic short- and long-term objectives
• Develop relationships with our clients, engineering, and peer management teams, and effectively navigate across the organization
